“…to achieve what modern philosophy has been telling us for two centuries is impossibility itself: to get out of ourselves, to grasp the in-itself, to know what is whether we are or not.”

Left Curve is an artist-produced journal that addresses the problem(s) of cultural forms emerging from the crises of modernity that strive to be independent from the control of dominant institutions and free from the shackles of instrumental rationality. Our orientation is premised on the recognition of the destructiveness of commodity systems to all life, and the need to build a culture that could potentially create a more harmonious relationship among people, and between the human and natural world. We encourage open, critical, defetishized work that attempts to unravel, reveal contemporary (inner/outer) reality. (read more: Editorial Statement)

"The new society and the new human will only become reality when the old motivations— profit and power—are replaced by new ones: being, sharing, understanding; when the market character is dissolved by the productive character capable of love and a new radical humanist spirit takes the place of cybernetic religion."—Erich Fromm

Actions you can take right now
Sign the petition telling Congress that about a million Iraqis have likely been killed and urging them to end this war now. A large number of signatures on this and other petitions is a compelling way to keep pressure on Congress as there are more votes on the war. Add your name
